Biathlon

Biathlon is a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. Competitors race over a distance while stopping at designated points to shoot at targets. The sport tests both endurance and marksmanship, requiring athletes to ski quickly across various terrains and retain composure while shooting at targets, often under physical exertion. Biathlon originated from military training exercises and has evolved into a competitive sport featured in the Winter Olympic Games. There are different formats of competition, including sprint, pursuit, individual, and relay events. Biathlon is governed by the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
