Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The primary objective of the game is to score by getting a ball into the opposing team’s goal, which is usually achieved by kicking or heading the ball. The sport is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Football is characterized by its emphasis on skill, teamwork, and strategy, with players permitted to use any part of their bodies except their arms and hands to control the ball. In most parts of the world, it is known simply as “football.” However, in the United States and Canada, the term “soccer” is used to distinguish it from American football and Canadian football, which are different sports altogether.

Globally, football is one of the most popular and widely played sports, with professional leagues, international competitions, and a vast following of fans. The FIFA World Cup, held every four years, is one of the sport’s most prestigious tournaments, showcasing national teams from around the world.
